Company History
Applied Diagnostics, Inc., was founded in 1995 to provide complementary diagnostic services to the already extensive array of anatomic pathology services offered by Mangini, Lakhia, Delahoussaye and Associates. Applied Diagnostics has since expanded to become a broad spectrum esoteric testing laboratory and is the only pathologist-owned commercial esoteric laboratory in Houston. Applied Diagnostics specializes in Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, and Molecular Pathology; constantly seeking new technologies and methodologies to add to its menu of tests.
Houston’s reputation for being at the forefront of medicine is growing around the world. The need for an independent molecular laboratory in Houston is the driving force behind Applied Diagnostics. We accomplish our mission by providing the latest diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive testing technologies and services to medical specialists whose patient populations require more advanced diagnostic procedures. With the advent of the human genome project, more sophisticated technologies are becoming a reality, offering increasing possibilities in the area of personalized medicine.
Most recently, Applied Diagnostics implemented a Circulating Tumor Cell (CTC) Test that acts as a prognostic indicator and enhances monitoring of patients undergoing therapy for metastatic breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers.
Applied Diagnostics is also in the process of validating UroVysion by FISH (Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization), a test that provides a noninvasive method for initial diagnosis of bladder carcinoma in patients with hematuria and also allows for subsequent monitoring for tumor recurrence.
